CBD Hash in Switzerland: The Complete Guide (Types, Techniques, How to Choose)

CBD hash is a broad, technical and exciting category. To make the right choice, you need to understand the different types, techniques, concentrations, and flavors. This guide is our attempt to lay it all out clearly—in an educational way, without unnecessary jargon. Written by Don99, master hashmaker at the Hash Factory (St-Légier, Vaud), 2nd place in the Bubble Hash category at the 2025/2026 CannaSwiss Cup.

What is CBD hash?

Hash is the concentrated resin of hemp. When you look at a hemp flower under a microscope, you see tiny, shiny glands: the trichomes. These are what contain the cannabinoids (CBD, THC, CBG, etc.) and terpenes (the aromas). Hash is the substance obtained when these trichomes are isolated and concentrated.

CBD hash —or CBD hashish —is hash made from hemp that complies with Swiss standards: less than 1% THC. The desired effect is not a psychoactive high, but rather the properties of CBD: relaxation and a sense of calm, without altering perception.

Swiss CBD Hash: What Sets Us Apart

Switzerland is one of the most demanding markets in Europe for artisanal CBD hash. The 1% THC tolerance (compared to 0.3% in France) allows for richer flavor profiles—but that’s not enough. What matters is the raw material, the technique, and the hashmaker’s eye.

At the Hash Factory, Don99 produces small, handcrafted batches. Our Swiss CBD Bubble Hash won 2nd place at the 2025/2026 CannaSwiss Cup —as voted by consumers, not a closed jury. To compare all extraction techniques side by side, check out our comprehensive comparison of Ice-O-Lator, Rosin, Dry Sift, and Charas. Hash-making techniques

Dry sifting

This is the oldest and probably the purest technique. The dried material is pounded over fine screens (220 microns, 90 microns, 60 microns…). The trichomes detach and fall through. The finer the sieve, the purer the hash—it contains less residual plant material.
